Ariyalur is an administrative district in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. Headquarters are located at Ariyalur. Area 2,033.66 km² and Population 694,058 (as of 2001).

West Side : Perambalur and Tiruchirappalli
South Side : Thanjavur and Tiruvaru
East Side : Nagapattinam

Ariyalur famous for its cement industries in and around it. Because limestone raw material has stored in this area.This district has huge reserves of lignite.

Arasu cements, the Birla cements, the Sakthi cements, the Dalmia cements, the Tamil Nadu cements, etc. are located in Ariyalur.

Ariyalur is one of the busiest transport cities.

It is also familiar for the Kaliyaperumaal Temple situated at 5 km from Ariyalur.

The famous Kangaikonda cholapuram is situated near to it. This town is famous for the temple which was built by the King Rajendra Cholan of Chola’s Empire.
